The arrest happened on Thursday, April 4 just before 1:15 p.m., when the MTA Police learned of a possibly armed man on Train No. 858 at Yonkers Station, according to an MTA spokesperson.

Officers met the 11:45 Hudson Line train, which had departed from Poughkeepsie, at Yonkers Station after it made an unscheduled stop and identified the 52-year-old suspect. Police then removed the man from the train and detained him, soon discovering a hunting knife over 4 inches long in his backpack.

The man, whose name was not released, was issued a summons for possession of a weapon on a railroad. A preliminary investigation found that he had not intended to use the weapon, the spokesperson said.

The train was delayed at Yonkers Station for 22 minutes in total.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.
